CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State senior linebacker has been named to the Butkus Award Watch List, it was announced on Monday. The award is given annually to the top collegiate linebacker.
Hungalu picked up the honor after a junior season that saw him record 83 tackles, including 49 solo. His 7.5 tackles per game rank second among returning Pac-12 Conference players.
A native of Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i, he also totaled three tackles for loss, one interception, four pass breakups, three fumble recoveries and three quarterback hurries in 2016. He posted a career-best 13 tackles against Utah and accounted for three takeaways against UCLA – two fumble recoveries and one interception.
