Madrigal Named Freshman All-America First Team

DURHAM, N.C. – Oregon State second baseman Nick Madrigal has been named to the Baseball America Freshman All-America First Team, the publication announced on Monday.

Madrigal, the Pac-12 Conference’s Freshman of the Year, batted .333 in his first season with the Beavers. He played in 49 of the team’s 54 games, and tied for the club’s lead with 65 hits while accumulating 11 doubles, five triples, one home run and 29 runs batted in. He also walked 15 times to just 14 strikeouts – the least among the team’s starters – while swiping eight bases.

His honor gives the Beavers at least one Baseball America Freshman All-American in four of the last five years.
