SAN FRANCISCO – Oregon State junior Luke Heimlich has been named the Pac-12 Conference's Pitcher of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
Heimlich, a left-hander from Puyallup, Wash., earned the honor after striking out a career-high 11 batters in the Beavers' 1-0 win over Indiana on opening day Friday. He did not pick up the win, but held the Hoosiers to four hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings.
Counting back to last season, Heimlich, a speech communication major who was a Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention selection in 2016, has thrown 14 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings.
