Lost opportunities haunt Oregon State Beavers in 38-24 loss at UCLA

PASADENA, Calif. — Some of the botched moments were fairly subtle, like Marcus McMaryion's early missed deep throw to Victor Bolden that he acknowledged haunted him for the rest of Saturday night.

Others were more glaring, like the Oregon State defense surrendering a touchdown immediately following a momentum-shifting scoop and score, or the offense settling for a field goal on a drive that had reached first-and-goal from the 3-yard line.

"Lost opportunity" were the first words uttered by coach Gary Andersen following the Beavers' 38-24 loss at the Rose Bowl. He was talking about the end result, of course, which dropped OSU to 2-8 on the season and 1-6 in Pac-12 play.
