Legacy of Oregon State basketball walk-ons lives on as final player departs

CORVALLIS – Just as quietly as he walked onto the roster, Matt Dahlen stepped into Wayne Tinkle's office in June to end his Oregon State basketball career and close a unique chapter in program history.

The two-year walk-on confirmed to his coach that he would step away from the sport, focusing on school while his knees rest from the ramifications of tendonitis and bone spurs, plus a slight tear in one patellar tendon.

He was the last of a group of walk-ons from Tinkle's first season in Corvallis to leave the team.
