Larry Scott Out As Pac-12 Commissioner

Reports are breaking that Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott and the conference have agreed to part ways. Scott’s tenure will end on June 30th, and a search for his successor will begin immediately.

Pac-12 CEOs reportedly met today with concerns about the conferences stability. Scott extended his contract with the conference in 2017, up through 2022, but his tenure has drawn criticism. The failure of the Pac-12 Network to gain traction with cable subscribers has been a continuing issue, and Scott’s handling of the conference’s response to the Covid-19 crisis has also drawn ire. In particular, the decision to cancel the 2020 football season, and then the reversal of that decision, has been a point of contention.
