Kendal Manuel reaches plea deal in misdemeanor assault case

men's basketball guard Kendal Manuel on Tuesday agreed to a plea deal regarding his fourth-degree assault charge.

Manuel, a redshirt freshman, pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge, which the state filed on March 9 after a fight with his then-roommate in their apartment. The case will be dismissed without a conviction if Manuel completes all terms of a 180-day diversion program, which includes 80 hours of community service, completion of an anger management class and payment of fines to the victim, court and district attorney's office, according to Benton County chief deputy district attorney Ryan Joslin.
