CORVALLIS - Often standing between the two outdoor practice fields in the shadows of Reser Stadium, Oregon State coach Jonathan Smith has spent a majority of the Beavers' first two spring practices as an overseer.
While Smith's coaching career to date has involved scheme design and hands-on work with quarterbacks, he said Friday he is currently focused on ensuring the structure of his first practices back at OSU are running smoothly and emphasized his trust in his coaching staff to manage skill work.
"We're again just (at) the starting point, the foundation, of both sides," Smith said.
