Oregon State's Joah Robinett is transferring to San Diego State, he announced on his Twitter account Friday afternoon.
Robinett, who hails from San Diego, pointed to a desire to be closer to his family as the reason for the transfer.
Robinett, who was set to switch from outside linebacker to tight end for the 2017 season, recorded five tackles in two games as a true freshman in 2016 before being sidelined by a shoulder injury that also kept him out of spring practice. OSU coach Gary Andersen said last month that the reasoning for Robinett's upcoming position switch was because of his unique frame at 6-foot-8 and 245 pounds, which made him too big to play outside linebacker yet too lean to play defensive end.
