CORVALLIS -- A moment on the back patio finally brought Jake Luton clarity.
For two weeks since returning home to Marysville, Washington, from the University of Idaho last summer, Luton had engaged in deep family discussions about a simple, yet massive question.
Should he stay? Or should he go?
Some family and friends told Luton to stick it out. It was too much of a financial and athletic risk to trade a Division I quarterback scholarship for a season at a junior college to chase his dreams of playing in the Pac-12.
But on that June day in the backyard, Luton decided to take his shot.
