CORVALLIS — Angie Blount settled in front of her TV in Waukesha, Wisconsin, to watch the second half of Oregon State's contest against Boise State, when she swore she recognized the quarterback taking the Beavers' first snap.
A mother would easily know her own son, right? But that couldn't be Conor, she thought. So she kept her lips sealed, ensuring she would not embarrass herself in front of the gathering of her family and friends, until her daughter, Hailey, said it out loud — "that's Conor in the game."
"All of us just screamed," Angie recently recalled.
