CARY, N.C. – Oregon State junior Luke Heimlich and sophomore Nick Madrigal have been named finalists for the 2017 Golden Spikes Award, USA Baseball announced on Wednesday.
The honor is given annually to the nation's top amateur player, with Heimlich and Madrigal part of a semifinalist list that encompasses 25 players total. Now, fans have a chance to vote for their favorite semifinalists by visiting GoldenSpikesAward.com. Voting ends June 9 and is a part of the selection process.
Finalists will be announced June 14 with the 2017 winner honored June 29.
