CORVALLIS – Sitting in the southeast end zone of Reser Stadium with a teammate from Western Oregon, Devin Chappell decided on the opening week of the 2013 season he would look to transfer to Oregon State.
Now the Beavers' starting safety, Chappell and his friend from the Division II school in Monmouth drove to Corvallis to scout Eastern Washington, their opponent the following week. The Big Sky school was a big underdog against a Top 25-ranked OSU team that had come off a nine-win season and Alamo Bowl appearance.
When the 60-minute matchup concluded, the Beavers would tumble from the rankings after a 49-46 loss.
