Hannah Swanson birdied five holes on the back nine of the Meadow Club en route to even par 72 to lead the Oregon State women’s golf team to the first round lead of the soggy 13-team Bay Area Intercollegiate.
Swanson, a native of Forest Grove, birdied three consecutive holes to finish the day tied for sixth, She is two strokes off the pace being set by Erin Harper of Indiana and Alexis Keating of Colorado.
The Beavers first round 7-under-295 leads a tightly bunched scoreboard with eight other teams within nine shots of OSU’s pace.
“We battled really wet, rainy, tough conditions and multiple delays; I was very pleased with our competitive spirit this group showed,” OSU head coach Sammie Chergo said.
