Hamblin Named Academic All-American

CORVALLIS – Oregon State senior Ruth Hamblin has been named a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday. Hamblin is the first Oregon State player to earn First Team recognition since Chelle Flamoe accomplished the feat in 1989.

Hamblin has posted a 3.85 GPA as a Mechanical Engineering major, and is on pace to finish up her undergraduate course-work at the end of winter quarter, completing her degree in less than four years. The center has also become involved in the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association, and was part of a group of students that launched a rocket to 21,750 feet last Saturday.
