Oregon State got another strong rushing performance from freshman running back Jermar Jefferson, who finished with 139 yards and four touchdowns. Quarterback Conor Blount was sharp, going 15 of 21 for 172 yards. The Beavers fought back from an early 14-0 deficit to take leads of 24-21 and 30-28.
But Gardner Minshew and the Washington State Cougars ultimately were too much for the Beavers, who fell 56-37 on Saturday night at Reser Stadium. Minshew threw for 430 yards and five touchdowns. The Cougars scored 28 points in a row to put the game away after OSU went up 30-28.
