Oregon State head football coach Gary Andersen's salary for the 2016 season ranks 45th nationally, according to a database USA Today released Wednesday.
The database includes the salaries for 119 of 128 Football Bowl Subdivision coaches, minus nine private universities whose contracts are not available via public records requests.
The ranking provides an example of how the prices for hiring coaches have continued to rise in recent years.
According to Aaron Brenner of The Post & Courier in Charleston, South Carolina, Andersen's $2.55 million salary for the current season is equivalent to what Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney made three years ago.
