CORVALLIS -- Gary Andersen's first Oregon State spring practice started in early March, with a two-week break in the middle of those workouts. His second began at the end of March, coinciding with start of the spring academic quarter.
Then there was this year's unconventional timing, with the Beavers' 15 practices running from mid-February to mid-March.
But it turns out that might be the perfect setup for Andersen, partially because of how the rest of the offseason calendar now unfolds before fall camp. The Beavers have been done with practice for nearly a month, and have utilized that time to evaluate film, visit other schools and start an extended offseason training program before coaches hit the road for the spring recruiting evaluation period.
