CORVALLIS — Gary Andersen took some time to reflect following spring break last year. And he wondered if he had screwed up.
The coach was picking apart the scheduling details of Oregon State's quarter system, which was different than the semester system used at his previous coaching stops. Andersen had started spring practice the first week of March, which falls during the winter quarter. Had he waited a couple weeks and paired the start of practice with the first day of the spring quarter, he realized, it could have opened an opportunity for additional signees to join as early enrollees.
