Freshman cornerback play scout team Khalil Tate: Oregon State practice notes

Related Topics: Cory Hall

CORVALLIS - While Oregon State interim coach Cory Hall noted his respect for Arizona quarterback Khalil Tate this week, he stopped short of comparisons to his former teammate Michael Vick.

OSU defensive coordinator Kevin Clune was also asked about comparisons Wednesday, but did not have any names in mind to measure with Tate.

"I don't know if there's anybody just quite like him," Clune said.

Indeed, the Beavers did not have a quarterback on the roster with the skillset to mimic Tate on the offensive scout team. So they went with freshman cornerback Kaleb Hayes, a former quarterback, running back and wide receiver while at San Gorgonio High School in San Bernardino, California.
