Former Ohio State assistant coach Zach Smith asserts innocence in tweets

Zach Smith, the former Ohio State Buckeyes assistant football coach who was fired following allegations of domestic abuse against ex-wife Courtney Smith, asserted his innocence in a series of tweets on Wednesday and also criticized reporter Brett McMurphy and the SEC Network's Paul Finebaum.

Meanwhile, Smith's mother, Lynn Bruce, defended her son in a Facebook post.

Ohio State coach Urban Meyer was suspended for three games for his mishandling of the allegations against Smith. The Buckeyes open the season Saturday at home against the Oregon State Beavers.
