Ex-Oregon State star Sean Mannion named as Los Angeles Rams backup QB...for now

Sean Mannion is the beneficiary of how the struggles of one player can lead to an opportunity for another player. Even if the player who is struggling is the No. 1 pick of the 2016 NFL draft.

Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said if the regular season started today, the former Oregon State star would be his backup quarterback behind starter Case Keenum after watching top pick Jared Goff's ugly performance in the 27-25 loss to Minnesota Thursday night.

"If we were starting right now, I would probably have Sean as the two," Fisher told reporters after the game.
