Ed Ray is disappointed Todd Stansbury is no longer Oregon State's athletic director, after just over a year on the job.
But he also understands why Stansbury would leave for his alma mater, Georgia Tech.
"The disappointment should not be misinterpreted as anything other than the regret that (Stansbury and wife Karen are) leaving," Ray said by phone Friday morning. "I had no interest in having him leave as long as I'm here as president. I understand he's following his heart. Georgia Tech transformed his life the way we try to transform students' lives here, and that's something you don't ever forget.
