Dick Fosbury Named to National High School Hall of Fame

INDIANAPOLIS – Former Oregon State student-athlete Dick Fosbury, who revolutionized the high jump, was selected as one of 12 individuals for the 2018 class of the National High School Hall of Fame administered by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).

Fosbury developed his technique in high school known as the Fosbury Flop which revolutionized the high jump event. He went to Oregon State and later perfected the technique by winning the gold medal at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City.

He claimed the 1968 NCAA high jump title, following that up with a gold medal in Mexico City.
