Destiny Slocum leads Oregon State women's basketball to season-opening win

CORVALLIS -- Destiny Slocum had 15 points and eight assists in her Oregon State debut as the eighth-ranked Beavers defeated Cal Poly 79-54 in their season opener Friday night at Gill Coliseum.

Slocum, a redshirt sophomore, was voted Big Ten Freshman of the Year while playing for Maryland in 2016-17. The point guard sat out last year after transferring to Oregon State.

Mikayla Pivec also scored 15 points for the Beavers (1-0), who host Arkansas-Pine Bluff next Wednesday. Kat Tudor added 14 points and Taya Corosdale had 10.

Devin Stanback poured in a game-high 26 points for Cal Poly (1-1).
