On Wednesday afternoon, Oregon State landed its first commitment of the 2018 recruiting class, as 247Sports three-star cornerback DeShon Wilson announced his commitment on Twitter.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound defensive back, out of Stellar Prep (Hayward, California), chose the Beavers over offers from New Mexico, San Jose State and Utah State, as well as interest from several Power 5 conference programs:
Since arriving at Oregon State, coach Gary Andersen has put a premium on long, athletic defensive backs, which has become a growing trend all the way up through the NFL ranks.
