During the 2018 recruiting cycle, the Oregon State Beavers struggled to benefit from the state of Oregon's historic collection of talent.
Hoping to change that, coach Jonathan Smith has made in-state recruiting a top priority in his first year at the helm, and the results have come swiftly.
On Monday, Marshfield three-star tight end/defensive end Cory Stover became the Beavers' third in-state pledge in the class of 2019, joining West Salem running back/wide receiver Anthony Gould and Clackamas defensive end Kelsen Hennessy.
The 6-foot-6, 215-pound athlete quietly announced his commitment via an updated bio on his private Twitter account, choosing Oregon State over an offer from Cal and interest from Oregon:
As I teased this weekend, Oregon State has a new commitment.
