SAN FRANCISCO – Freshman Jade Carey earned two Pac-12 weekly awards following her record-breaking performance in the Pac-12 opener against UCLA and UC Davis, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. The weekly honors for the Olympic gold medalist marks the first of her young Beaver career.
Carey was named both Pac-12 Gymnast and Freshman of the Week after she broke a 29-year old all-around program record after posting a 39.800 on Sunday, surpassing Chari Knight's 39.750 that was set back in 1993. In just her second meet donning the Orange & Black, Carey won her second consecutive all-around title by posting scores of 9.
