There are a few variations of retirement, I suppose. One guy retires from the factory after 30 years, sells his home, buys a sailboat and you never see him again. Another guy retires from the same place, stays away a few months, then is spotted staring through the factory fence, watching the activity, because it's what he's done for 30 years.
Only one of those guys is really done with it.
Pat Casey retired on Thursday. I think. But he sounded so conflicted, let's call it a sabbatical, for now.
After 24 seasons as the head baseball coach at Oregon State, and 900 victories, Casey sounded as if he's had enough.
