CORVALLIS — When Devin Chappell got his first look at California during a Monday film session, the Golden Bears' quarterback naturally caught the Oregon State safety's attention.
Chappell quickly noticed the way Davis Webb crisply surveyed the field, put touch on his deep passes and trusted his receivers. Given all the pieces Cal had lost from the season before, Chappell acknowledged he was "kind of surprised" by the passing game's continued firepower.
"You would expect a huge dropoff with Jared Goff leaving," Chappell said, referring to the former Cal star signal-caller who became the NFL Draft's No.
