SEATTLE, Wash. – Sophomore McKenzie Byrd set a school record and placed fifth in the javelin on Saturday to lead the Oregon State track & field team on Day 1 of the Pacific-12 Conference championships at Husky Track.
The Beavers are in 10th place with four points heading into the second day of competition, which starts at 9 a.m. with the hammer throw. They are guaranteed to score at least one point in three events and will pass last year’s total of six points.
Byrd threw 144-3 to break her former school mark of 143-0.
