Ann Arbor, Mich. – The Oregon State wrestling team started quickly but No. 13 Michigan rallied to defeat the Beavers 27-9 on Thursday in the Joe Wells Classic.
The meet honored Wells, a former OSU head coach and longtime Michigan assistant who died earlier this year.
Bonus points and an overtime win were the key for the Wolverines (5-1). They had a pin, three major decisions and the overtime win in their seven victories, a nine-point swing in their favor the unranked Beavers (3-4) could not overcome.
Sophomore Ronnie Bresser (125), redshirt junior Joey Palmer (133) and senior Seth Thomas (165) won their weight classes for the Beavers.
