Things looked tough for the Beavers, as Tulsa jumped out to a early 7-0 lead. Oregon State's head coach, Wayne Tinkle, called a time out to try to settle his team as they looked flat-footed, going 0-4 and two turnovers. Forward Olaf Schaftenaar finally got the Beavers on the board with a three pointer from the NBA's three point line.
Oregon State continued to battle back against Tulsa, cutting the lead to three with Tulsa leading 17-14. Tulsa's nine senior deep team proved to be a problem for the Beavers as they went up ten with a 34-24 lead.
