MARINA DEL REY, Calif. – The Oregon State women's rowing opened the spring season with the Varsity 8 racing to victory over UCLA Saturday morning.
The OSU V8 earned a first place finish over the Bruins covering the course with a time of 7-minutes, 2.8-seconds pulling in nearly four seconds ahead of UCLA (7:07.00).
In the Second Varsity 8 race, UCLA (7:13.60) edged out the Oregon State crew (7:18.80) by five seconds.
The Beavers' Varsity 4+, which is largely powered by a crew of novices, rowed against a pair of UCLA crews in the opening race of the day finishing third.
