EL MACERO, Calif. – The Oregon State men’s golf team had a solid start to the El Macero Classic on Friday, despite 20 to 30 mile-per-hour wind gusts, to put them in contention after the first 18 holes of competition.
The Beavers shot a 15-over 303 at the par-72, 6,900-yard El Macero Country Club and are in second place in the 15-team field with 36 holes to play.
Texas Tech leads after firing a 3-over 291, while TCU and UC Davis are tied for third with a 16-over 304 and Marquette rounds out the top five with a 19-over 307.
