TUCSON, Ariz. - The Oregon State softball team fought hard for the win but it was No. 3 Arizona taking home the 3-2 eight-inning victory, Sunday afternoon.
Head coach Laura Berg is "very proud of the way the team competed."
Freshman Madison Simon opened the game with a double towards right field. Left on base at the conclusion of the top, Simon was the only Beaver to earn a hit in the first five innings.
Senior pitcher Trystan Melancon, and the OSU defense, started out strong. Similar to the Beavers, the Wildcats opened with a double but freshman shortstop Grace Messmer (caught fly) and Melancon (two strikeouts) closed the inning without an Arizona run earned.
