Corvallis, Ore. – The Oregon State men's soccer team concluded its nonconference schedule on Thursday with a 1-0 loss to UC Irvine on Beavers Back to School day at Lorenz Field.
More than 300 students from Linus Pauling Middle School in Corvallis attended the game, which was also televised by Pac-12 Networks.
The Beavers (4-3-2) played a man down for the final 37:30 after sophomore was red-carded at 52:30. The Anteaters (2-6-0) scored the only goal of the game shortly thereafter when Mario Ortiz converted at 54:29 following a cross from Michael Sperber.
OSU's best scoring opportunity came at 74:59 when sophomore midfielder was fouled inside the 18-yard box.
