EUGENE, Ore. – Junior Melissa Ausman broke the 170-foot barrier and won the discus for the second week in a row on Friday to pace the Oregon State track & field program at the Oregon Relays at Hayward Field.
Ausman threw 171 feet, five inches on the last of her five attempts to hold off runner-up Itoham Aikhionbare of Oregon and win the 12-woman competition. Ausman also took first at the Sun Angel Classic at Arizona State last weekend with a school-record throw of 173-7.
Helen Ann Haun cleared 12-3.25 to take second place in the pole vault.
