Sometimes, defense sparks offense. Sometimes nothing helps
Saturday night, the Oregon State Beavers were blown out at Reser Stadium in a 42-7 loss to the sixth-ranked Washington Huskies.
Oregon State's defensive game plan was working. The Beavers limited the Huskies to just seven points in the first half.
But the offense just couldn't get on track. Oregon State's first seven possessions ended in punt, punt, punt, punt, punt, punt and punt.
Then, when the Beavers finally moved the ball in to Huskies territory on their eighth drive, Artavis Pierce lost a fumble. The Beavers, who garnered 184 yards on offense to Washington's 509 yards, didn't score until the fourth quarter in the lopsided loss.
