Gary Andersen is out as Oregon State Beavers football coach, agreeing to part ways with the university six games into the 2017 season, and with four additional seasons remaining on his contract.
There was plenty of excitement when Andersen arrived in Corvallis in December 2014, shortly after Mike Riley's abrupt departure for Nebraska. Andersen had gone 11-2 in his final season at Utah State in 2012, and then a combined 19-7 in two seasons at Wisconsin. Perhaps OSU was in for a quick rebuild and rapid rise, many fans thought.
But the Beavers rarely found any on-field success under Andersen.
