Instead, Davis had to endure a long and lonely wait before he was selected in the second round (No. 31 overall) by the Boston Celtics. Davis gambled that his performances during his one-and-done season and future potential would be enough to be selected in the first-round and sign a guaranteed contract. Didn't work out that way.
