Standing in at 6’ 5” and 320 lbs, Tristan Wirfs looks more like a ten-year NFL veteran than a rookie prospect when standing in pads and a helmet. He’s a natural athlete who claimed wrestling and track-and-field state championships in high school and moves with the ease of a player with a frame much-smaller than his. It’s probably no surprise to scouts who have seen Wirfs up close that he posted a 4.85 forty-yard dash time at the combine and a 36.5 inch vertical leap, again demonstrating his true ability to move around on the field. He needs to get a bit more violent down the field, but being groomed in a program at Iowa that churns out NFL linemen each and every year, he should project as a long-term starter at the tackle position.
