Jordan Dail pitched herself into trouble at times Thursday, but in every instance, she pitched herself right back out of trouble.
Dail struck out 11 batters in Oregon's series opener against Cal at Jane Sanders Stadium, 10 of them with a runner in scoring position as the Ducks beat the Golden Bears, 1-0. Dail kept the Bears at bay long enough for Jasmine Sievers to drive in Allee Bunker with a fifth-inning double, delivering the Ducks' third win in conference play this season.
"I was kind of out of the zone a little bit," said Dail (15-10), who surrendered three hits and three walks.
