Statistically speaking: Re-established run game improves Oregon's offense

EUGENE -- Oregon's re-established run game, though not completely back to full form, led to across the board improvements to the team's offensive stats.

The Ducks moved up to fourth in the Pac-12 in rushing (177.7) after hitting 200 yards in the 42-21 win over UCLA.

There were also bumps in scoring, total offense, sacks allowed and third-down conversions.

Defensively, Oregon saw declines in several major categories after allowing the Bruins to gain 496 yards. However, the Ducks improved in scoring defense, third-downs and in the red zone.

Special teams improved but continues to be the weakest of the thee units, though Oregon now leads the Pac-12 and is in the top 20 nationally in punt returns thanks to Ugochukwu Amadi's 56-yard return touchdown.
