The top seeded Oregon Ducks were upset 5-0 by the eighth seeded Michigan Wolverines. There had been some signs that the Oregon’s pitching was in a slump, and that was certainly on display today. More baffling though was the complete disappearance of the bats, as the Ducks recorded only five hits and stranded seven runners against a middling Big Ten squad.
Oregon got off to a slow start in the first few innings. Elise Sokolsky started in the circle and retired the side in the opening period. She was relieved after only finishing two full innings while giving up two runs, one in the second and one in the third.
