Smith earns national player of the week honor

EUGENE, Ore. – After leading Oregon to a four-game series sweep of Northwestern State and setting a pair of Oregon program records, Tanner Smith has been named one of Collegiate Baseball's National Players of the Week.

Smith (Newport Beach, Calif. / Servite HS) batted .643 (9-for-14) with four home runs, 10 RBI, two doubles, and seven runs scored while reaching base at a .688 clip and slugging 1.643. He had multiple hits in three of the four games, including a pair of three-hit games while homering in all four games.

In the series opener, Smith set a new Oregon program record for career hits when he doubled in his first at-bat of the series.
