When Kwame Evans went down in the second half of the season opener against Hawaii, it looked bad. He thumped down on the floor clutching his knee and had to be supported off the court, not putting any weight on his leg.
As an immediate reaction imagination went to the worst, sprained knee, torn ligaments, surgery, lost for the season. It's happened often enough that Duck fans have a version of PTSD about losing a vital player early in the year.
That Evans passed up the NBA draft for another season at Matthew Knight Arena made it seem even more of a potential tragedy.
