A couple things ...
-- College football coaches are handed enormous compensation packages to win games. Everything else -- spread-option offense, pro-style offense, 4-3, 3-4, 4-2-5 -- is style.
It's a bottom-line business.
The Merc's Jon Wilner takes a hard look at coaching in the Pac-12 over the past decade through the lens of this metric:
1) Win total.
2) Players from that school who are active players in the NFL.
3) Number of wins per active NFL player.
It's an interesting take.
Arizona and Washington State are rated first and second by the Wilner metric.
