Oregonian/OregonLive sports writers recognized in national competition

The Oregonian/OregonLive placed in the Top 10 in four categories of the Associated Press Sports Editors writing competition -- the most by The Oregonian/OregonLive sports staff since these awards were begun more than 40 years ago.

Danny Moran, along with investigative reporter Brad Schmidt and news researcher Lynne Palombo, were recognized for their story on Luke Heimlich's sex crime, placing in the Top 10 in the APSE's Investigative category.

Andrew Greif placed in the Top 10 in two categories -- Beat Writing for his coverage of the 2017 Oregon Ducks football team and Explanatory for his story on how the 2016 Ducks football season unraveled and ended with coach Mark Helfrich getting fired.
