Oregon limits Oregon State's Jermar Jefferson to season-low 3 yards per carry in Civil War

CORVALLIS -- Facing yet another prolific running back, albeit in a one-dimensional offense, Oregon's defense had arguably its best performance of the season in the Civil War.

Jermar Jefferson entered the Civil War with seven 100-yard games and 12 touchdowns and Oregon State's running back ended Friday the same way after Oregon limited him to a season low 3.05 yards per carry (21 carries for 64 yards) in a 55-15 mauling at Reser Stadium.

"We game-prepped for that and hopefully shut him down," Ducks defensive end Drayton Carlberg said. "... I think playing good technique and gap leverage (was key).
